-Pastor Bryan
159 State Street Portland, Maine. The church is located near the former Mercy Hospital campus. State Street is one-way heading south so the church will be on your left.
You can park on either side of State Street. Parking is FREE on Sundays! Click here for a map of good places to look for on-street parking.
On Sunday mornings (excluding Mother's Day & Easter Sunday), you may park in the Cumberland Club parking lot.
To get to the lot, drive past the church and take the next LEFT onto SPRING STREET. Drive a block and half and the Cumberland Club lot is on your LEFT. The lot entrance is just past Zephyr Ice (129 Spring Street) and across the street from the little blue house.
The service is Sunday at 10 a.m. in the main Sanctuary. Dress is casual.
Our worship services are a dynamic blend of traditional and fluid styles. Classic hymns on our beautiful pipe organ are mingled with newer contemporary music. Different art forms are employed. The service often follows the common lectionary for readings from the Bible and our pastor Bryan delights in both educating the church and interpreting lessons relevant for our culture and time. We find power in metaphor and are more interested in interpretation than literalism. Our services are designed to bring hope, humor, challenge, and change to this life rather than focusing on the next. We do not believe in exclusivism and honor all enduring faith traditions and the spiritual truth of each individual.
Kids of all ages are welcome to attend the service. Pastor Bryan always includes a "Kids' Sermon" just for kids. Following the Kids' Sermon, we provide child care in our nursery for infants and toddlers. Older kids are welcome to join our staff in Chapel Hall for "Kids Church" - a time for kid-focused lessons in a fun environment!
The Groups page includes the leader of each group. Send the leader an email about your interest and they will get back to you!
We have all sorts of opportunities to volunteer. There is something for everyone! Contact Pastor Bryan to discuss ways to share your time and talents.
We livestream our Sunday 10 AM service on our YouTube channel so you can join us then or watch the service whenever it is convenient. Meetings and things like book group can be attended virtually via Zoom.
