159 State Street Portland, Maine. The church is located near the former Mercy Hospital campus. State Street is one-way heading south so the church will be on your left.
Where do I park?
You can park on either side of State Street. Parking is FREE on Sundays! Or you can park across the street at Conroy-Tully Walker Funeral Home. If need be, you can park across the street at the Portland Club (but please see one of the ushers or deacons to get a parking pass for the Portland Club)
What time is service? What do I wear?
The service starts at 10 a.m. We are in Chapel Hall so go to the side doors located in the courtyard.
Dress is casul, but be sure to dress warmly! We are in the process of replacing our boiler. In the meantime, we are meeting in our cozy Chapel Hall and relying on our temporary backup heating system. The Trustees and Church Council are working on both short-term, and long-term solutions.
What Covid precautions are in place?
Cumberland County is now "HIGH" for Covid so as of May 19, 2022:
You must either be fully vaccinated or have a negative Covid-19 test within 72 hours of the start of the service.
Masking will be required. N95, KN95 or equivalent.
Social distancing 6 ft is required i.e., leaving an empty pew or row between filled ones.
No coffee hour after the service.
Please do not attend the in-person service if you have Covid-19 symptoms, a positive covid test, or have been exposed to someone with a confirmed case of Covid-19.
The Sunday worship service will continue to be streamed online.
What does a typical service look like?
Our worship services are a dynamic blend of traditional and fluid styles. Classic hymns on our beautiful pipe organ are mingled with newer contemporary music. Different art forms are employed. The service often follows the common lectionary for readings from the Bible and our pastor Bryan delights in both educating the church and interpreting lessons relevant for our culture and time. We find power in metaphor and are more interested in interpretation than literalism. Our services are designed to bring hope, humor, challenge, and change to this life rather than focusing on the next. We do not believe in exclusivism and honor all enduring faith traditions and the spiritual truth of each individual.
Is there something for my kids?
Kids of all ages are welcome to attend the service. Pastor Bryan always includes a "Kids' Sermon" just for kids. Following the kids' sermon, we provide child care in our nursery for infants and toddlers.
How do I join a group?
The Groups page includes the leader of each group. Send them an email about your interest and they will get back to you!
